More On Coronavirus

My last post elicited a lot of comments, including some that raised legitimate criticisms, which I hope to address in this follow-on.

COVID-19 Workers in China

ZINC:  I completely forgot to include zinc-rich foods in my list of immune supports.  Zinc plays a critical role in the immune system—it is zinc that gives white blood cells their white color. Zinc is also a co-factor for vitamin A. Raw milk is a pretty good source of highly absorbable zinc, but better sources are red meat and oysters. The admonition to eat lots of oysters for protection is very good advice.  Don’t like oysters?  Then I’d recommend a powdered oyster supplement, such as Oyster Max (enter the coupon code NT10 at checkout for a 10% discount). Oysters also supply vitamin B12, iodine and a host of minerals.

Speaking of zinc, a New York physician, Dr. Vladimir Zelenko claims a 100 percent success rate in treating seven hundred coronavirus patients using a combination of hydroxychloroquine sulfate (a type of malaria drug), azithromycin (a type of antibiotic, also called Z-Pak) and zinc sulfate.  The treatment costs twenty dollars and takes about five days.  According to Dr. Zelenko, the symptom of shortness of breath resolves in four to six hours. I don’t think the antibiotic is necessary for those on a Wise Traditions diet. I notice that both the hydroxychloroquine and the zinc are in sulfated forms and wonder whether the sulfur could have something to do with Dr, Zelenko’s success rate.

VITAMIN A: Chris Masterjohn, PhD, has published an article, “The Food and Supplement Guide for the Coronavirus,” which recommends no more than 3000 IU vitamin A per day. According to Masterjohn, the active metabolite of vitamin A, all-trans retinoic acid, has been shown to upregulate a hormone called ACE2, for which coronavirus may have an affinity.  For this statement he provides four references.  In all four studies the substance used was a pharmaceutical called atRA or tretinoin, a synthetic form of all-trans retinoic acid produced in China, and not a food like liver or cod liver oil, and not balanced by vitamin D or K2.  AtRA or tretinoin is often used topically to treat acne, and it has many side effects, including depression, anger and suicide—symptoms which indicate a deficiency in vitamin A. These are hardly good studies to justify avoiding vitamin A-rich foods, known to support the production of everything from healthy mucus to vigorous antibodies.

VITAMIN C: I’ve received many questions about liposomal-C.  This is ascorbic acid (not vitamin C complex) attached to a lipid molecule, which apparently makes it easier to absorb.  I’m not a fan of any synthetic vitamin, as they can cause deficiencies in co-factors.  For example, taking over one gram of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) daily decreases markers for copper, a vitamin C co-factor, lowering the activity of ceruloplasmin (a copper-dependent enzyme that regulates iron) and increasing blood pressure in young women during tests to assess blood pressure regulation.

Nevertheless, high doses of ascorbic acid can help in acute situations; in fact, some hospitals in New York are giving intravenous vitamin C to coronavirus patients with apparent success.

Still, for prevention and every day use, it’s best to stick to vitamin C-rich foods like sauerkraut.  Don’t like sauerkraut or find you need more vitamin C to deal with environmental allergies?  I’d recommend a powdered fruit rich in natural vitamin C complex, such as Alma-C from Radiant Life.

SATURATED FAT: In his book The Plant Paradox, Dr. Steven Gundry advises against consuming saturated fats as part of the healing process for the body.  Gundry gets so much wrong about fats that it is hard to take him seriously.  He says that long-chain saturated fats cause inflammation when in fact they depress inflammation. He’s a big pusher for polyunsaturated oils, and too much of these liquid oils (whether expeller processed or not) will depress the immune system and cause inflammation. He does recommend the short-chain saturates, found in coconut oil (and also in butter), which have anti-viral properties, so he’s right about that.

TESTING FOR CORONAVIRUS: I received several comments challenging my statement that there is no good test for coronavirus. Please read this excellent discussion by David Crowe, of the PCR test, used to determine the presence of coronavirus. To quote: “The coronavirus test is based on PCR, a DNA manufacturing technique. When used as a test it does not produce a positive/negative result, but simply the number of cycles required to detect sufficient material to beat the arbitrary cutoff between positive and negative. If positive means infected and negative means uninfected, then there are cases of people going from infected to uninfected and back to infected again in a couple of days.”  In other words, lab technicians can get the result they want by setting the number of cycles they do in the test.

More from Crowe: “Scientists are detecting novel RNA in multiple patients with influenza or pneumonia-like conditions, and are assuming that the detection of RNA (which is believed to be wrapped in proteins to form an RNA virus, as coronaviruses are believed to be) is equivalent to isolation of the [corona]virus. It is not, and one of the groups of scientists was honest enough to admit this: ‘we did not perform tests for detecting infectious virus in blood.’” To determine whether a person died from coronavirus, you need to detect the virus in the blood post mortem, and in general these tests are not being done.

And even if they were, the rate of false positives makes the testing meaningless.  According to one published study, “In those close contact of COVID-19 patients, nearly half or even more the ‘asymptomatic infected individuals’ reported in the active nucleic acid test screening might be false positives.”  (Please note that this study has since been “Retracted,” meaning it was not acceptable to health authorities.)

So, I am sticking to my statement. The tests for corona virus are not good; whatever we are reading in the papers or hearing on the news about coronavirus should be interpreted with this fact in mind and pretty much makes all the statistics meaningless.

IS CORONA VIRUS CONTAGIOUS? This is the assumption that drives all conventional medicine.  But many experts, including virologists, hold a different view—that the viral material is not attacking the body to make it sick, but that sick bodies give off the viral material in efforts to detoxify.  If this is the case, then quarantining and social distancing are not necessary, and even counterproductive, as such measures create fear and loneliness, certainly not conducive to good health and healing.

HOW BAD IS CORONAVIRUS? Is this a pandemic that is filling the hospitals? Here’s where it gets confusing.  I’ve had first hand reports of overcrowding and chaotic conditions in some hospitals, but also reports of hospitals where everything is normal, with only two or three people in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or even completely empty.  See this report on a hospital in Berlin.

We also need to know how many deaths attributed to corona virus are actually deaths from existing conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease, all potentially exacerbated by panic. In Italy, more than 99 percent of fatalities attributed to coronavirus were in patients suffering from previous medical conditions.

Italy Coronavirus Deaths Percent with Prior Illness
Italy Coronavirus Deaths Percent with Prior Illness

I do not want to minimize the suffering of those who are sick—indeed it does seem that there is an outbreak of severe respiratory illness, at least in certain locations.  But I do not believe that this justifies shutting down the world economy, removing our right to assemble or practice religion, and making it illegal to give folks a hug. When this is all over, I’d like to know the disease and death rate in areas where the restaurants have remained open and quarantining is not required, compared to those areas where governments are imposing draconian measures.

WHAT’S CAUSING THE CURRENT OUTBREAK OF RESPIRATORY ILLNESS? I think the best theory is the rollout of 5G, which at 60 gigahertz disrupts oxygen, including oxygen in your cells.  5G has a similar frequency to the scanning machines used in airports—and have you ever noticed that pregnant women and children are not put through these machines?  And 5G bathes us in this frequency not for a few brief seconds, but 24/7. This explains the cases of people literally collapsing in the streets in Wuhan. Wuhan was the first Chinese city to roll out 5G.  The Princess line boasts state-of-the-art Wi-Fi , presumably 5G, throughout the ship. Kirkland, Washington, where the first coronavirus cases appeared in the U.S. was an early 5G location and home of a number of IT companies boasting about getting 5G inside buildings. 5G blankets northern Italy and parts of Spain and is now installed in many U.S. cities.

If 5G is the precipitating cause, many other factors may make people susceptible to respiratory disease, such as vaccinations (including mass vaccination campaigns in China and a “novel” Italian influenza vaccine introduced in late 2019, known to increase susceptibility to coronavirus), exposure to toxins like diesel fumes from old vehicles (really a problem in many European cities) and jet fuel fumes (lots of cases in Brooklyn and the Bronx, near major NY airports), high intake of glyphosate in wheat and other foods, having metal in the body (from amalgam fillings, aluminum in vaccinations, pins, implants, etc.) smoking, taking statins or blood pressure medications–and the standard American diet.

The important thing is not to panic. Most people recover from this illness—it has a much lower death rate than the common flu. And this too shall pass–with many potential silver linings—including a wake up about the dangers of 5G. Meanwhile, a nutrient-dense diet including cod liver oil, liver, raw milk, oysters and meat, butter and eggs from grass-fed animals will provide protection against all these toxic influences as well as help in maintaining mental equanimity during these troubling times.

  1. “a different view—that the viral material is not attacking the body to make it sick, but that sick bodies give off the viral material in efforts to detoxify. If this is the case, then quarantining and social distancing are not necessary, and even counterproductive” Hi Sally! (from Dove in Keene New Hampshire, conference at Stonewall Farm in October 2005) I’ve been thinking a lot about nutrition lately as it pertains to widespread food budget restrictions. (I am also concerned about 5G.) I’m not sure how the above distinction points to this virus not being contagious. Setting aside the fact that viruses are considered nonliving, if I were a virus, I would probably want to stay alive and in order to do that, I’d need to find living people to host me. I’m thinking about healthcare workers and their access to PPE. I’m thinking about otherwise healthy people who many need care in a hospital for any reason. If our hospitals are overwhelmed, we will lose access. Yes, we absolutely need to spread the word about how people can maximize their time and money with respect to nutrition. However, I’d like to retain our capacity as a country to provide access to healthcare. 5G may very well be a big part of this problem. I doubt it’s the whole problem though. Likewise, a population full of diabetic is not ideal. However, healthy people are getting sick and dying, even some young healthy people. As I see it, travel is the main culprit. We’ve never before had the capability to move so many people and things around so quickly. No one wants to hear or accept the idea that this level of travel and trade might not be sustainable. However, we are all facing some potentially serious changes to our everyday lived experience because of this virus. On a happier note, a young Mom I know just shared that she is using a recipe for rolls that I created using the principles in Nourishing Traditions. This made me so happy! I continue to be grateful for all you have shared with the world. The knowledge of nutrition I gained largely through you is a crutch I am leaning very heavily on right now.

      Viruses aren’t a living organism

  2. Most appreciated! The “panic” was only possible because the current generations of people have all been dumbed-down via the public schools. Not only are people not taught the superior importance of internal terrain over viruses (and virtually any other microbial) the doctors are practically just as ignorant for otherwise the pharmaceuticals could not be positioned as immune-supporting agents.

An additional perspective from two other voices:
“There is a certain species of bacilli who are the carriers of infectious diseases; these beings are the progeny of the lies told by human beings; they are nothing else than physically embodied demons generated by lies.” – Rudolf Steiner May 30, 1907.

“A thought has no physical substance, and yet it is not abstract but a real and living being.” – Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov

  3. Thank you Sally. We have become a very weak and complacent nation. Weak physically and emotionally. Where is the American spirit and fortitude? Are we not the children of the Greatest Generation who defeated worse threats without shutting the country down. I am reminded of two quotes from Benjamin Franklin that I think are appropriate here. “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety” and ” Without freedom of thought, there can be no such thing as wisdom – and no such thing as public liberty without freedom of speech”.

    1. The Greatest Generation were born and were kids during a time when everything was being shut down for the 1918 flu, plus when they were adults they would see things shut down for polio epidemics. So this must be where we got the idea from.

      1. Excellent point. Also worth noting that the first mandatory vaccinations in the United States were administered to the Continental Army under orders from George Washington, and the resulting success was instrumental in the American victory during the Revolutionary War. There is nothing patriotic about the current denial of medical science and refusal to accept basic sanitation measures like masks and social distancing.

  4. Excellent, thanks, Sally. Have been following precepts in Nourishing Traditions for well over a decade in general and like ur first commenter above have the great good fortune tp live probably less than 15 minutes from her in Vermont where we really do have access to clean, well raised, pasture-raised animals and their by products like raw butter , whey, milk, and eggs.

Like u I am ambivalent about the so-called pandemic, the supppsed tests, the fact that probably all these “red dot” maps of # of deaths “from COVIDS” include deaths from all respiratoy ailments. “COVIDS” leads to death by pneumonia. My mother died of pneumonia 42 yrs ago as the end result of metastisized breast cancer. So npw is every respiratory ailment death being attributed to COVIDS and so we see this COVIDS illness being called a ‘pandemic” , martial law, fear, stress and hysyeria running rampant bpth at the disease itself but especially at the severe economic consequences overnight.

After realizing all the misinformation and even disinformation circulating, and the rush for big pharma to create a vaccine …i just pulled out my dog eared copy Nourishing Traditions and started following it even mpre strictly. Np matter what COVIDS,is or may be caused by, the best defense is a healthy and strong immune system. Unfortunately i cannot afford to buy the special cod liver oil and butter combination recommended but, hey, I made my first batch of sauerkraut (on my to-do,list for years, and ginger carrots, upped my use of whey tremendously, mix it with prganic home brewed kombucha.

Now I’ll go check out some NT recipes for organ meats including tongue. Thanks for reminding us here.

  5. I really appreciate you putting yourself out there Sally. Many people are afraid to do so, and I understand that too. But we do need this kind of information to be put forward. I have mentioned you in my own video on COVID19, combining your recommendations with similar minded scientists. We need to get this kind of helpful information out there, as it helps all people battle all conditions. If you are any of your readers are interested, they can view my video here: https://youtu.be/FT_4ECkEzIs

    1. Great video. I love your recommendations without taking it to a political level. I am still awaiting any information from the WAPF school of thought on why viruses are not contagious!!! I’m not talking about terrain which makes sense, I’m talking about the new talk about how NO virus are contagious.

  6. “a different view—that the viral material is not attacking the body to make it sick, but that sick bodies give off the viral material in efforts to detoxify. If this is the case, then quarantining and social distancing are not necessary, and even counterproductive” This statement needs clarification. How do jump to the conclusion that COVID-19 is not contagious?

      1. So, 2 days later….9,100+ cases and it is still morning here on the west coast. That’s more than double in just 2 days. This virus is WAY more contagious than the “seasonal flu”…AND, the seasonal flu doesn’t kill hospital workers and first responders. We all have to be very careful when posting statistics regarding COVID-19. This will only be possible when we are looking at it in the rearview mirror.

  7. I’m curious what is considered a lower death rate…according to John’s Hopkins, from January to today, the world has experienced 54,137 from this virus. That’s just 12 weeks and many deaths. I’m also thinking that the CDC has proven that this virus is contagious…that’s why there are so many cases that have surfaced so quickly in the last 3 months. Hospitals are overwhelmed. Germany is not a good example because they tested more than any other country and got ahead of the virus whereas everyone else was behind it. NYC hospitals are very much overwhelmed and we’re starting to use pop up centers to treat patients who are non-Covid-19.

  8. Sally, thank you. I have great respect for you and for all your great work with the Weston Price Foundation.
With regards to Chris Masterjohn, I respect his work and apparent knowledge, but I may not have learned of him had it not been for his work for the Foundation. Therefore, I am a little confused.
Do you feel that his advice on maintaing Vitamin A at RDA levels is wrong because his research is limited to the studies he presented and those studies don’t prove that high intake of Vitamin A may be risky? Or, do you feel he has changed his stance on Vitamin A and now differs from the Weston Price Foundation’s?
I really don’t want to give up my Vitamin A foods, but I am confused. In fact, I keep searching for studies to contradict him 🙂

    Thank you
    Wanda in NJ

  9. In comparing to the flu, you’re not understanding the higher RO factor as well as the higher mortality rate. Yes there are far fewer covid deaths than flu right now, but covid has just begun. On April 2nd there were 4500 US deaths but today, April 5th, there are over 9,000 US covid deaths. Hundreds of thousands will likely die in the US by the time a year has passed and that’s with social distancing.

Might be time to lay low and see how this plays out-because believe it or not you could be quite wrong.

  10. You shouldn’t be citing death rate you should be citing case fatality rate, or number of infected ppl who die. It will be awhile before we have that number but crude estimates are around 3.4% compared to 1% seasonal flu. And the RO factor is 2-2.5 vs 1.3 seasonal flu. These numbers are serious. Yes a good immune system will help but touting the benefits of raw milk and undermining social distancing efforts is […].

  11. That was bloody spectacular! Thank you Sally.

The most contagious thing out there is fear and the most dangerous thing out there is humanities’ willingness to acquiesce to will of a few. Don’t buy into the COVID-Scam.

Y’all need to heat up some bone broth, go for a walk outside, take a long sip and then start asking better questions. The truth is out there, keep digging!

  12. In this article in the New England Journal of Medicine, Dr. Fauci et al. speculated that Covid-19 might be about as virulent as a severe seasonal flu:

    https://www.nejm.org/toc/nejm/382/13

And since the tests for the virus seem to be so wildly inaccurate, nobody really knows *what* the true mortality rate is.

Also, this virus is not nearly as contagious as the media are leading people to believe. In fact, according to Dr. Paul Auwaerter, the clinical director for the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine: “[The] odds [of catching Covid-19] are almost identical to seasonal influenza. The coronavirus behaves similarly in that way.”

Furthermore, he states: “If you have a COVID-19 patient in your household, your risk of developing the infection is about 10% . . . . If you were casually exposed to the virus in the workplace (e.g., you were not locked up in the conference room for six hours with someone who was infected [like a hospital]), your chance of infection is about 0.5%.”

    https://www.darley.com/documents/inside_darley/Webinar_with_Dr._Auwaerter_March_13_20202.pdf

In light of this information, all the panic and hysteria hardly seem justified. If people end up killing themselves because they’re losing their jobs (as a news article posted above mentioned), is that really saving lives?

  13. One thing I haven’t heard mention of is the fact that most people have either used or are on antibiotics for other conditions. Antibiotics invariably disrupt or destroy the gut biome making it much harder to fight off any kind of infection. If, in conjunction with the other insults mentioned above (throw in the acidifying effects of canola oil), we top it off with a 5G signal, wouldn’t that be the perfect storm scenario? Any already weakened life form has its breaking point….just because someone is breathing and walking down the street one day and suddenly down with “corona virus” the next, says more about the individual than it does about the whole.

in love and light, Brett in Montana

  14. Hey, if you guys are so sure that whatever you say is causing the corona. and how to stay well. Proof it and go out and try to get infected and stay alive. them you will have a lot more followers.

  15. One quick caveat about azithromycin (a type of antibiotic, also called Z-Pak) . This drug can mess with the magnesium balance in the cardiac system so consider if the patient may have be allergic to mycin drugs. My father’s hearing was damaged by streptomycin and years later when I took Z-Pak, 2 tablets into it, I felt so weird I thought I would die. In fact, I felt so bad I prayed to die. If you have never taken a mycin drug or Z-Pak you may want to do a little research.

  16. Hi Sally, I always enjoy reading your perspective!

I have one doubt though about the 5G rollout causing this outbreak. From my reading I have understood that 60ghz is the frequency for oxygen absorption. But from everything I can find, none of the telecom companies are using that high of a frequency yet. It’s always possible they are doing it on the downlow. Do you know of any sources that that frequency is being used?

    All the best,

    1. In response to the April 23, 2020 comment at 10:17 pm: you do not need to be broadcasting at 60 GHz (not megahertz as mentioned in the article) to have the body feel the effects of it. In Spectral Chemistry (a patented field…look up patents of Dr. Juliana Mortenson) there is a principle of heterodyning which means that all matter subjected to radiation feels the impact of each individual frequency impinging on it and every combination of those frequencies, additive and subtractive as well. So, for example, if you were near an antenna broadcasting at 3 GHz and 5 GHz, your body would experience whatever effects might occur from 3 GHz, 5 GHz, (3+5 = ) 8 GHz, and (5-3 = ) 2 GHz, Typical 5G antennas are putting out about 5 different frequencies at the same time, with frequencies like 3.87 GHz, 4.05 GHz, etc. In city areas where you’re surrounded by antennas, it would not be unreasonable for your body to be impacted by signals from 4 or more antennas whose emissions could easily add up to 60 GHz via the principle of heterodyning. This is very important to understand. Similarly, an antenna could broadcast at 30GHz and the first harmonic (also felt by the cells of the body) would be 60 GHz. NO ONE has looked at the heterodyining combinations of this microwave “spray” they are sending out to answer the question: is there some combination of these frequencies that could be felt by matter (including living systems) as 60 GHz? Similarly 24 GHz is lethal to bees. What combinations will be whacking the bees even if you’re not broadcasting at 24 GHz?

  17. Ms. Morell –

I have read “The Contagion Myth“ and applaud your and Dr. Cowan’s work. I wholeheartedly believe that Covid is caused by 5G/electro-smog.

Regarding the “Delta variant,“ would the recent increase in cases be related to additional antennas/towers being installed, or an increase in gigahertz coming from these devices?

I would appreciate any guidance you could offer in how to explain the recent spike in cases, especially in unvaccinated people (if we are to believe the statistics).

    Thank you,

    Craig

    1. Yes, I think the recent surge–blamed on the Delta variant–can be explained by additional towers, possible increased gigahertz, and also 5G coming from satellites. . Another explanation is the so-called superspreader events where a lot of people have cell phones, including 5G phones.

It is impossible to find out from the telecommunication companies’ websites when and where they are turning on, and what frequencies they are using. All are vulnerable to this–both vaccinated and unvaccinated.

      Best, Sally
